Query No. 19

Brunei Locals - Colour trials or Proofs?

I have some examples of the 2c imperforate and in different colours.

SG 1

I wondered whether these were of clandestine origin, or colour trials, proofs of some kind. I have a copy of the Robson Lowe history & plating study, but this does not yield much information.

I also have around 30 complete sheets of the first issue to $1 and wondered whether Robson Lowes estimated print runs were still considered accurate. If they are, then the current cat values for the 25c, 50c and $1 are disproprtionately low considering the printing was only 2000 stamps for each. Your comments and expertise here would be appreciated.
Rob Myers.
